Chaitanya

General Bio info:

Chaitanya Mahaprabhu: (1486–1534) was a Vaishnava saint and social reformer born in eastern India, specifically in the area of West Bengal.  Believed by some of his followers to be the full incarnation of Lord Krishna, Chaitanya was a notable proponent for the Vaishnava school of Bhakti yoga (meaning loving devotion to Krishna/God) based on the philosophy of the Bhagavata Purana and Bhagavad Gita. Specifically he worshipped the forms of Radha and Krishna and popularised the chanting of the Hare Krishna maha mantra, leaving behind the Siksastakam (eight instructional verses on the practice of Bhakti yoga.)

An example of one of these verses being:

namnam akari bahudha nija-sarva-shaktis
tatrarpita niyamitah smarane na kalah
etadrishi tava kripa bhagavan mamapi
durdaivam idrisham ihajani nanuragaha

O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of names like Krishna and Govinda. In these transcendental names You have invested all Your transcendental energies. There are not even hard and fast rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to easily approach You by Your holy names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for them.

(Here we have a clip that explains the early life and teachings of Chaitanya in greater detail.)
